About Polaris

Who we are
Polaris is a group of employees, including employees who are members of the current works council, who have come together with the intention of forming a list for the upcoming works council election.
At this stage, Polaris is not yet a formally submitted election list. The initiative currently includes over 40 employees, representing different departments, functions and seniority levels.
We are preparing responsibly, exchanging perspectives, and engaging in dialogue with colleagues who share a similar understanding of works council work. As Polaris is still in a preparatory phase and the final election list has not yet been confirmed, we are currently not publishing a complete list of names.
Being precise about our status is important to us. It reflects our respect for established procedures and for the democratic process governing works council elections.
If you would like to connect with the group or contribute, please reach out via our contact page.

Why the name Polaris
Polaris is the North Star.
It is not a symbol of perfection or control, but of orientation.
We chose the name because it reflects what we aim to provide:
a clear point of reference in complex environments and times of change.
For us, this means focusing on structures and standards that employees can rely on — through clarity, fairness, and reliability.

Why we came together
As organisations grow, internationalise, and adapt to changing conditions, systems and decision-making structures tend to become more complex. Many employees experience this complexity in their everyday work, for example through:
✦ unclear expectations around roles or development
✦ inconsistent application of rules or processes
✦ difficulty planning work or career steps
✦ uncertainty during organisational or structural change
We believe these experiences point less to individual issues and more to structural questions. Polaris came together around the shared conviction that employees benefit most from clear rules, fair treatment, and reliable handling of decisions, especially in times of change.

Our understanding of works council work
For us, works council work is not about visibility, escalation, or positioning.
It is about responsibility, discipline, and long-term impact.
We believe effective employee representation requires:
✦ respect for legal and procedural frameworks
✦ careful handling of complex topics
✦ consistency in standards and expectations
✦ constructive and professional engagement
This understanding shapes how we prepare, how we communicate, and how we intend to work.

What guides our preparation
Our preparation is guided by three principles:
✦ Clarity
Ensuring that expectations, processes, and roles are understandable.
✦ Fairness
Supporting consistent and equal treatment across contexts.
✦ Reliability
Strengthening trust through dependable and predictable handling of decisions.
These principles are not campaign promises. They are standards against which we measure our own approach.

Where we are now
Polaris is currently in a preparatory phase.
This phase focuses on:
✦ aligning on principles and priorities
✦ listening to employee perspectives
✦ building a shared understanding of responsible works council work
Once the formal election process begins, we will communicate transparently about next steps.
